Perth! :)

Capital da Austrália Ocidental, é das maiores cidades do país e uma das cidades mais populosas e isoladas da Austrália.

Uma pequena curiosidade: É tão isolada dentro do seu próprio país que fica até mais perto de Jakarta e de Timor-Leste do que das cidades australianas de Sydney ou Melbourne!

O dia começou bem cedo, por volta das 9h da manhã. Depois de pedir algumas informações e de ter um mapa em mãos, foi tempo de ver como é uma sexta-feira nesta cidade australiana :)

A primeira paragem foi à zona perto do rio Swan, o chamado Langley Park. O dia estava a começar e, para além de atarefadas pessoas a ir para os seus trabalhos, já era possível ver caminhantes e ciclistas a aproveitar a pista localizada bem junto ao rio para fazer algum exercício físico matinal.

Nesta zona existem também alguns equipamentos de ginásio, disponíveis a quem quiser exercitar o corpo gratuitamente e ao ar livre.

Depois segui então para a zona comercial. No coração da cidade existem algumas ruas só com lojas onde podemos comprar de tudo um pouco. Pelo caminho, inúmeras estátuas feitas em cobre pela cidade. :)

A rua das lojas de Perth é tipicamente australiana. São lojas normalmente de apenas um piso, com simples placares na horizontal a correr toda a rua. Assim, basta olharmos para cima para saber que loja está ali. :)

Pelo caminho há também labirintos com vestígios de épocas mais antigas.

Por fim, altura de ir visitar o Kings Park. Este parque é acessível por transporte público (autocarro 935, gratuito) e oferece uma vista panorâmica e o parque botânico da cidade.

Este parque é ideal para se fazer pic-nics em dias de sol :)

Capital of Western Australia, it is one of the largest cities in the country and one of the most populous and isolated cities in Australia.
A small curiosity: It is so isolated within your own country that it is even closer to Jakarta and East Timor than to the Australian cities of Sydney or Melbourne!


My day started very early, around 9am. After asking for some information and having a map in hands, it was time to see how a Friday is like in this Australian city :)


The first stop was the area near the Swan River, the so-called Langley Park. The day was starting, and in addition to busy people going to work, it was already possible to see hikers and cyclists enjoying the track located right by the river to do some morning exercise.

In this area there are also some gym equipment, available to anyone who wants to exercise the body for free outdoors.


Then I went on to the shopping area. In the heart of the city there are some streets with only shops. Along the way, I noticed that there are numerous statues made of copper throughout the city.

Perth's shopping street is typically Australian. They are one floor stores, with simple placars horizontally running all over the street. So, you just need to look up to know which store is there. :)

Along the way there are also labyrinths with vestiges of older times.



Lastly, time to visit Kings Park. This park is accessible by public transport (bus 935, free of charge) and offers panoramic views and the city's botanical park.


This park is ideal for picnics during sunny days :)

Auckland & Hobbiton (Nova Zelândia / New Zealand)

Auckland, Nova Zelândia!

A meteorologia é confusa e, apesar de ser agora início do Outono, podemos ter as quatro estações do ano num dia só.

A cidade não tem uma arquitectura muito homogénea tendo, basicamente, um pouco de tudo. Desde casas de madeira tipicamente americanas nos subúrbios da cidade, a prédios de altura mediana bastante simples e brancos (a lembrar talvez os prédios portugueses), a prédios altos típicos da cidade de Nova Iorque.

O ponto mais alto (e turístico) da cidade é a Skytower e, claro, não pude deixar de visitá-la. A torre tem 328 metros de altura e é a maior estrutura do hemisfério sul. 

O preço da entrada são 29 $ NZD.

É possível subir até ao 220º metro da torre. Há dois níveis de observação nos quais podemos observar não só a vista de 360º graus da cidade e das ilhas em redor como, também, os saltos de skyjumping que os mais corajosos fazem da torre.

A Nova Zelândia é conhecida pelos desportos radicais, principalmente pelo bungy jumpy, criado por um neozelandês numa ponte. Por isso, porque não saltar da estrutura mais alta do país?   

Pormenores: Partes do chão das zonas de observação são de vidro.

E, abaixo das zonas de observação, há uma cafetaria a oferecer a melhor vista sobre a cidade. :)

Visitado o principal must-see da cidade (e ao qual é possível regressar para ver a vista nocturna por um extra de 4 $ NZD), fui então andar pela cidade, um pouco sem destino - e, pelo caminho, deixou de ser Verão para ser Inverno no curto espaço de tempo de 5 minutos.

Marina, uma zona com muitos restaurantes e apartamentos de luxo.

Auckland não é uma cidade com grandes pontos turísticos a serem visitados então geralmente os turistas acabam por ir conhecer zonas ao redor de Auckland.

Há várias opções e eu não podia deixar de escolher visitar Hobbiton, o cenário onde foram gravados os filmes da saga Senhor dos Anéis e Hobbit.

Hobbiton fica em Matamata, uma cidade a cerca de 2h30 de distância de Auckland. A partir de Auckland basta alugar um carro (e ser confiante o suficiente para conduzir à esquerda!) ou então marcar uma excursão em quiosques turísticos.

Parti de Auckland às 6h da manhã.

Pelo caminho, vi a verdadeira Nova Zelândia - verde, verde e mais verde!

Sobre Hobbiton:

São terrenos privados escolhidos pelo director da saga, Peter Jackson, para serem o cenário dos filmes. 

A entrada neste cenário vivo custa 79 $ NZD e inclui uma visita pela propriedade com um guia a explicar todos os pormenores do cenário e, ainda, uma bebida (alcoólica ou não alcoólica) no The Green Dragon Pub, o pub dos hobbits.

 

Tudo no cenário é real e vivo, à excepção da árvore gigante, acima da Bag End.

A visita acabou no pub com uma refrescante cidra de maçã. :)

O caminho de volta a Auckland foi o adeus à linda e verde Nova Zelândia :)

Auckland, New Zealand!

The weather is inconstant and, although it is now early autumn, we can have the four seasons of the year in one day.

The city does not have a very homogeneous architecture having, basically, a bit of everything. From typically American wooden houses in the suburbs of the city, to medium-sized buildings fairly simple and white (perhaps similar to Portuguese buildings), to tall buildings typical of New York City.

The highest and most touristic point of the city is the Skytower and, of course, I could not fail to visit it. The tower is 328 meters high and is the highest structure in the southern hemisphere.

The entrance price is 29 $ NZD.

It is possible to go to the 220º meter of the tower. There are two levels of observation in which we can observe not only the 360 ​​degree view of the city and surrounding islands but also the skyjumping jumps of the bravest ones.

New Zealand is known for extreme sports, especially bungy jumpy, created by a New Zealander on a bridge. So why not jump from the tallest structure in the country?

And, below the observation zones, there is a cafeteria offering the best view of the city. :)

After I visited the main must-see of the city (it is possible to return to see the night view for an extra $ 4 NZD), I walked through the city, a little bit without destination - and, by the way, summer just turned winter in the short time of 5 minutes.

Auckland is not a city with great tourist spots to be visited so usually tourists will eventually go to see areas around Auckland.

There are several options and I could not miss to visit Hobbiton, the setting where the films of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit saga were recorded.

Hobbiton is in Matamata, a town about 2h30 away from Auckland. From Auckland you just need to rent a car (and be confident enough to drive left hand side!) or book an excursion at tourist kiosks.

I left Auckland at 6am.

On the way, I saw the real New Zealand - green, green and greener!

About Hobbiton:

It is a private land chosen by the director of the saga, Peter Jackson, to be the scene of the films.

Entry to this live set costs $ 79 NZD and includes a tour of the property with a guide explaining all the scenery and a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) at The Green Dragon Pub, the hobbits pub.

Everything in the setting is real and alive, with the exception of the giant tree, above the Bag End.

The visit ended up in the pub with a refreshing apple cider. :)

The way back to Auckland was my goodbye to beautiful and green New Zealand :)

Melbourne é dos graffitis como Brighton é das cabanas de praia (Austrália) / Melbourne has the graffitis, Brighton has the beach huts (Australia)

Olá Austrália! :)

Melbourne é a segunda cidade mais populosa do país e é a capital do estado de Victoria.

Como não tive muito tempo para explorar a cidade, escolhi visitar dois sítios característicos da zona: os graffitis em muitas das ruas de Melbourne e as cabanas da praia de Brighton, uma cidade vizinha. 

Enquanto procurava pelos graffitis, algumas particularidades em que reparei:

Edifícios citadinos e, no meio, edifícios com arquitecturas mais antigas.

Têm eléctricos muito semelhantes aos portugueses. :)

O Mc Donalds chama-se Macca's.

 Os carros usam matrículas ao estilo americano :)

Austrália, país das proibições: É necessário declarar tudo o que trazemos connosco no aeroporto. Se for comida, sementes, o mais provável é ficarem sem eles no aeroporto. Para além disso, há inúmeras proibições nas ruas e tudo é penalizado com multa. Até mesmo o atravessar a rua sem ser no passeio ou fumar fora da área designada.

Finalmente, os graffitis.

Melbourne é conhecida como uma das grandes capitais de arte de rua do mundo pelas suas expressões únicas de arte exibidas em locais aprovados ao ar livre em toda a cidade. É possível até fazer uma tour de street art pela cidade.

Podemos encontrá-los  na Union Lane, Finaly Lane, Degraves Street,.. Bem, basicamente em todas as ruas. No entanto, a mais conhecida é a Hosier Lane. Enquanto procurávamos por ela, encontrámos outras ruas igualmente graffitadas.

Sobre Brighton:

Fica a 12km de Melbourne e é muito fácil lá chegar. Basta comprar o myki, cartão para a linha dos comboios, e ir até à Estação de Comboios Flinders.

Depois é só entrar na linha em direcção a Sandringham e, 15 minutos depois, sair na paragem Brighton Beach. E voilá, uma praia cheia de cabanas de praia coloridas. :)

Brighton é uma pequena cidade subúrbio, com casas espectaculares com vista para o mar. É muito comum ver os habitantes a correr ou andar de bicicleta na pista própria para tal. 

Em Brighton senti-me em casa :)

Hello Australia! :)

Melbourne is the second most populous city in the country and is the capital of the state of Victoria.

As I did not have much time to explore the city, I chose to visit two characteristic things of the area: the graffiti on many of Melbourne's streets and the beach huts of Brighton, a neighboring town.

Some things I noticed while looking for graffitis:

• Modern buildings and, in the middle, buildings with older architectures.
• They have trams very similar to the ones we can find in Lisbon, Portugal. :)
• Mc Donalds is called Macca's
• Cars use US-style license plates :)
• Australia, country of bans: It is necessary to declare everything we bring with us at the airport. If it is food or seeds, probably you will stay without them at the airport. There are numerous bans on the streets and everything is penalized with a fine.

Finally, the graffiti. Melbourne is known as one of the world's great street art capitals for its unique expressions of art displayed at approved outdoor locations throughout the city. You can even do a street art tour.

We can find them at Union Lane, Finaly Lane, Degraves Street, ... Well, basically on every street. However, the best known is the Hosier Lane.

About Brighton:

It is 12km from Melbourne and is very easy to get there. Just buy the myki, card for the train line, and go to the Flinders Train Station.

Then take the line to Sandringham and, 15 minutes later, take the Brighton Beach stop. And voila, a beach full of colorful beach huts. :)

Brighton is a small suburban town with spectacular houses overlooking the sea. It is very common to see the habitants running or cycling in the proper lane for it.

In Brighton I felt at home :)
